Welcome to the

Hackensack High School's School Based Youth Services Program

School Based Youth Services Programs (SBYSP) were started in NJ in 1987 to help young people navigate their adolescent years, finish their education, obtain skills leading to employment or continuing education, and graduate healthy and drug free. Hackensack SBYSP was established in 1988 at HHS.

The SBYSP is located in HHS Room 161 and coordinates with existing resources in the community. All youth are eligible to participate and services are provided before, during and after school at no cost.  SBYSP services include: Mental Health Counseling; Employment Counseling; Substance Abuse Education; Preventive Health Awareness; Learning Support; Healthy Youth Development; Recreation; and Information/Referral.

The staff is there to assist the School Administration, Nurses, Guidance Counselors, Psychologists, SAC, Child Study Team, Teachers, the entire school staff and PTA. Additional professionals are also available to present seminars that addresses stress changes to alter risk taking behaviors and ease the transition from adolescent to adult.

Many teenagers have multiple problems that call for different services. SBYSP was designed with input from teens, to provide employment, health and social services that are available to our High School students. In addition to the following core services Hackensack High School Based Youth Service
